As treasurer for the Adassa Martin Foundation, Janet is honored to serve on the board with the opportunity to give back and to be a part of an organization that aims to bring equality to all by providing assistance to those in need. By making emergency medical services accessible through financial support, AMF strives to improve the availability and quality of medical treatment provided to all Jamaicans.

Janet is also the principal of Harris Business Advisors, LLC, providing accounting and business consulting services to business clients across various industries. She has over 20 years of accounting, finance, and management experience. As a finance executive, she is well-versed in start-up ventures, mergers, business unit sales, and portfolio diversification, including real estate development & acquisitions, among other business endeavors. Janet’s background as a strategic financial leader also encompasses IT implementations, setting internal controls and procedures, compiling financial analytics & measuring key performance indicators. Janet has broad experience working with various lenders and third-party consultants to finance business ventures through traditional lending, private funding, debt restructuring, and debt consolidation, in support of existing entities as well as portfolio growth. Through strategic planning, budgeting, and cash flow management, Janet helps the team to achieve their desired fiscal results and return on investment.

Janet holds her MBA in management from Fitchburg State University and her bachelor’s in accounting from Eastern Connecticut State University. She is a certified public accountant and notary public in the state of Connecticut. Janet started her accounting career in the public sector working for a local CPA firm that focuses on closely held businesses and entrepreneurs across various industries such as construction, real estate, manufacturing, restaurants, medical offices, and retail. After leaving public accounting, Janet went to work as the Controller and CFO of a local manufacturing company. Changing industries, she became VP of Finance for a commercial real estate investment portfolio and later took on a position as financial controller for a residential real estate portfolio with holdings across the United States.
